Penn-Lee Footwear is proud to provide diabetic shoe services through Medicare Part B and many supplemental insurances. Customers interested in our program can be assured that we will handle the entire fitting and approval process. This includes measuring your feet, completing the required paperwork, obtaining approval from your physician, and of course…finding you a pair of great fitting shoes. Please note diabetic shoe orders are by appointment only*

We have nearly 100 styles of diabetic footwear to choose from! Shoes from New Balance, Propet, Rockport, Dunham, and David Tate are fully covered under our program, which means you don’t have to pay anything out of pocket. SAS brand shoes, however, are the one exception: These shoes are American-made and thus require a $30 service fee to help offset higher product costs associated with their quality and craftsmanship.

*Appointments for diabetic shoes run between 20-60 minutes. We take appointments Monday through Friday during the following times:
10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm

We do not typically handle diabetic shoes on Saturday, but if this is the only day you are available, please inquire and we will do our best to accommodate.

footwear is considered diabetic approved by medicare when:

  • The shoe is available in three widths.
  • The shoe has an adjustable closure with laces, velcro, or a pull toggle.
  • The shoe has a closed front and a closed back.
  • The shoe has a removable insole.
  • The shoe is paired with moldable diabetic insoles.

Accepted Insurances:

Insurance is complicated. That’s why we have chosen to work with a billing specialist who communicates directly with Medicare. We ourselves do not have a Medicare license and thus we do not handle any of the medical billing. Although it means that some shoes come with a small out-of-pocket fee, it also means we can focus exclusively on providing you with the best selection and service!

Our program does not accept all supplemental insurance plans, including HMO’s and Geisinger plans. Should we not accept your supplemental insurance, we’ll provide you with a listing of local stores and pharmacies that offer diabetic shoes. Some of these stores may accept your insurance even if we do not.

Diabetic customers are eligible for one pair of shoes every calendar year. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the ordering process, please call us at 570-825-5346.
