Frequently Asked Questions

We gladly accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase. To receive a full refund, footwear must be new and in its original box. The refund will be issued in the form of the original payment method. If your return is beyond 30 days (and in new condition), we may be able to issue store credit or allow an exchange.

We warranty all of our footwear for six months. If you believe your shoes have a manufacturer’s defect, please bring them to the store and ask one of our sales associates to take a look at them. We will let you know whether they can be refunded or replaced. Examples of defects include peeling soles, eyelets coming loose, or tears in stitching.

For residential customers, we offer $15 flat rate UPS shipping. Due to our low shipping volume (99% of our sales are in person), we pay very high UPS rates, upwards of $25 for a single pair of shoes. This is why we share a portion of the expense with the customer. If you live within 5 miles of our store, we may be able to offer delivery for a lower cost. Please inquire!

For commercial customers in our safety shoe program, shipping is complimentary.

If your size is out of stock at Penn-Lee, we are happy to place a special order with no obligation to purchase the shoe! Please note that we only accommodate special orders for shoes that are carried in our regular stock selection. We also cannot order items that are backordered or discontinued by the manufacturer. All special orders require a $5 fee to cover a portion of shipping costs.

Because we believe in doing business the old fashioned way, we do not have an online store configured to sell shoes online. We prefer to help you one-on-one to ensure that you’re getting the right style and fit. However, we will gladly take orders by phone with a credit card. If you see something on our website or social media that you want to order, please call 570-825-5346.

While our pricing is competitive with marketplace standards for footwear, you may be able to find similar shoes selling for less. Lower pricing can be the result of company sales and promotions, or resellers who purchase shoes in large (cheap) quantities and sell them at a discount. If you are considering whether to pay a few dollars more for a shoe through Penn-Lee, remember that those dollars are paying for a genuine service. Not only do we help put shoes on your feet, we will answer your phone calls without a phone tree, process your exchanges and returns without a chatbot, and share a friendly smile on days when you need it most.

Quite simply, there is only one Penn-Lee Footwear. We have been at the same location since 1961, we employ a friendly and knowledgeable sales staff, and we nimbly adapt to the needs of our customers. You’ll feel like family in our store.

Penn-Lee offers diabetic footwear covered by Medicare (part B) with little or no out of pocket expense. To participate in this program, call us to check if your insurance plan is in our network (we do not accept Geisinger or HMO plans). We will make an appointment with you to measure your feet, fill out the necessary paperwork, and select a pair of shoes. We have over one hundred styles of diabetic shoes to choose from!

Because Penn-Lee is not a Medicare-licensed facility, we developed a partnership with a third party Medicare billing specialist. Together, we communicate with your physician and ensure that your shoe order gets signed and approved so that it can be submitted to Medicare. The entire process takes up to four weeks, but we are here to carefully manage every step.

Call 570-825-5346 for more information or to make an appointment.

Measuring is truly a mix of art and science. We encourage you to let us measure your feet, because every single shoe is made differently, and therefore every shoe will fit differently! It will take us less time to find your Cinderella slipper when we have a baseline measurement first. Measuring can also expand your selection. If you are between sizes, we can bring out multiple options to try on (some smaller, some larger). The best fitting shoe is not always the size you intended to get. We also need to consider the width and overall shape of your foot; narrow feet tend to size down, while wide feet tend to size up. For more details, see Fitting Guide.
Shoe trucks are popular at manufacturing, warehousing, construction, and utility company facilities. Each truck comes equipped with a large inventory of safety toe footwear and provides shoe fitting services for employees working on site. Penn-Lee’s truck is unique for its dual versatility. We can outfit customers directly on the truck itself (up to four people at a time), or we can transport footwear racks directly into the facility using our liftgate. There are many national chains that offer shoe truck services. Our truck is proudly family-owned!
We open commercial accounts for any company that requires employees to wear specific footwear on the job (usually, but not always, safety toe and/or slip resistant footwear). This involves setting up a direct billing program whereby employees can visit the store and get shoes without an out-of-pocket payment. There is no minimum on how many employees can participate in this program. We just ask for an eligibility list or a paper voucher stating the company requirements and dollars allotted.
